Glacier

Glacier, 2011, pencil, metallic cord, metallic thread, and collage on paper, 60 x 72 inches. This series of unique works on paper was created for prominent public spaces
within the Charlotte R. Bloomberg Children’s Center and the Sheikh Zayed Tower at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

This second work, Glacier, commissioned by Johns Hopkins Hospital for the Charlotte R. Bloomberg Children’s Center, was inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Ice Maiden. The plaque for this collage reads: The grandeur and beauty of glaciers, which both Rudy, the main character in the story, and I were mesmerized by, is what inspired this work. Glaciers are magical natural wonders, and the grand size of this collage is a fitting tribute to their monumentality.
